Jeanna Campbell is a PhD Candidate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, School of Social Work. Their research agenda is informed by personal and professional experiences in the field of food insecurity and metabolic disease. Their research program aims to examine noxious social conditions that synergistically promote poor metabolic health outcomes among minoritized populations (e.g., low-income, minoritized racial groups) and to develop community-informed multi-level (e.g., individual, organization, community) countersyndemic adaptive interventions to address metabolic disease health inequities. Their practice experience includes leading a charitable food organization, serving as a non-profit services liaison for a national coalition seeking to expand Medicaid-based home services, and as a legal advocate with a non-profit law firm promoting access to state and federal food benefits for people with chronic conditions. Mx. Campbell’s teaching experience involves invited and adjunct roles in Social Welfare Policy, Public Health and Health Disparities, and Social Work Statistics. Mx. Campbell received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Neuroscience, and a Master’s in Social Work with an emphasis in Child and Family Practice from Illinois State University.
