Dr. Wingo is a tenured Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) with expertise in dietary behavior and lifestyle interventions for people with neurological and neurodegenerative diseases. The goal of her current research is to advance understanding of the role of dietary patterns on symptoms, progression, and comorbid conditions of multiple sclerosis (MS) and to adapt evidence-based interventions for adults with MS. In addition to her doctoral training, she completed postdoctoral fellowships in comparative effectiveness research and behavioral interventions for obesity. The focus of these fellowships was training in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical trials of dietary interventions. She has received funding from the National MS Society, Paralyzed Veterans of America, NIH and DOD.
